The EU will pause its response to US tariffs for 90 days to allow for negotiations. This is what the EU Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, wrote on Thursday.
US President Donald Trump first announced extensive tariffs for a number of countries and the EU, but on Wednesday he temporarily backed down and lowered the tariffs again. This is what the EU is now responding to.

- We want to give negotiations a chance. While we finalize the introduction of the EU countermeasures, which received strong support from our member states, we are pausing them for 90 days.
