Equinor and its partners have made a new oil and gas discovery in the Fram area, nine kilometers north of the Troll field in the Norwegian part of the North Sea. The discovery, provisionally named F-South, was made in two separate reservoirs, one of which contains both oil and gas, and the other only gas. Equinor announced this.
The total resources are estimated to be between 0.1 and 1.1 million standard cubic meters. The recovery potential is described as "moderate to very good". The drilling was carried out with the rig COSL Innovator in exploration well 35/11-31 S under license 090.
- These discoveries are located in an interesting area with a well-developed infrastructure. We have made several discoveries nearby in recent years and plan to explore the area further. We believe there may be more to be found, both oil and gas, says Geir Sørtveit, senior vice president for Exploration & Production West at Equinor.
The partnership consists of Equinor Energy AS (45%), Vår Energi ASA (40%) and INPEX Idemitsu Norge AS (15%). The partners will now consider connecting F-South to existing or future infrastructure in the area
