On top of a so far sluggish third quarter of orders, there is good news from the orders department at Vestas on Monday.

The company has thus been selected as the preferred supplier for the 1.2 GW Polish offshore wind project Baltic Power Offshore Wind with its upcoming flagship wind turbine V236-15.0 MW, Vestas announced in a statement.

If the preliminary declaration becomes a final order, Vesta will deliver a total of 76 units of the V236-15.0 MW turbine.

It is the Polish Pkn Orlen and Canadian Northland Power, which, through their joint venture, are behind the Polish project, have pointed to Vestas as the preferred supplier for the project, which is to be built 23 kilometers off the coast of the Polish near the city of ?eba. Once built, this will be the largest wind project in Poland.

- We are very proud to be working with Pkn Orlen and Northland Power on this landmark project for Poland, says Nils de Baar, Head of Vestas Northern & Central Europe. He continues:

- We aim to leverage our extensive experience and market leadership in the Polish wind energy sector, where Vestas has installed more than 3.9 GW of onshore wind turbines.

The Baltic Power project is targeted for construction to start in 2024 and commissioning in 2026.
