Employees at Vestas' nacelle factory at the former Lindøværft have just completed work on producing the first prototype of a nacelle for the wind turbine manufacturer's upcoming flagship wind turbine V236-15.0 MW. The company announced this on Linkedin.
The nacelle will now undergo a series of tests at Lindø. It will then be shipped to the Østerild National Test Center for Wind Turbines. Here, the first V236-15.0 MW is expected to be installed before the New Year. Here, the turbine will be operationally tested until 2024, in order to collect the data necessary to obtain a type certificate, which the turbine must have in order to enter series production in 2024.
V236-15.0 MW will be one of the world's largest wind turbines. It will be able to produce up to 80 GWh / year depending on site-specific conditions. Enough energy to supply more than 20,000 households with electricity.
