In April, European Energy received approval for the feasibility studies for the Frederikshavn Offshore Wind Farm, and since then, Energy Development has presented plans to build three of Vestas' V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbines on three of the five test sites that European Energy is developing about four km east of Frederikshavn harbor.
The plans now have the support of all parties in the city council of Frederikshavn Municipality. This happened when a consultation response from the municipality to the Danish Energy Agency was discussed in the city council on Wednesday.
- The EIA focuses on the impact on nature, birds, marine animals, protected areas, Hirsholmene, the visual and much more. And of course, those turbines will have an impact on the surroundings. They are large. That said, we agree to help promote the transition to more green energy. We will have to deliver on that agenda with the installation of large elements such as wind turbines, the six group chairmen in the city council - Karsten Thomsen (S), Mette Hardam (V), John Lamp Henriksen (C), Christina Lykke (SF), Thomas Hjort (DF) and Jens Nygaard (NB) - write in a joint press release.
According to the group chairmen, the support is an expression that the municipality is willing to take its turn for the green transition.
- The city council will continuously push for the use of local labor to be included in the entire project, and for synergies to be worked on for our area, they point out according to Kanal Frederikshavn.
European Energy aims to realize the offshore wind farm in 2024.
