There must be smiles on the lips of the order offices at Vestas. At least since yesterday there have been indications that the wind turbine manufacturer is at the front of the queue for orders totaling 3.5 GW.
The latest likely order comes from South Korea. Here, Korea South-East Power Company (KOEN) has chosen Vestas as the preferred supplier for the 600 MW project Wando Geumil in Wando-Gun, South Jeolla Province. To deliver the 600 MW, Vestas, if the project is finally implemented, will deliver 40 V236-15.0 MW turbines.
- We are honored to have been selected as the preferred wind turbine supplier by KOEN for the Wando Geumil offshore wind project and the trust that the customer has shown in Vestas, says Purvin Patel, head of Vestas in the Asia Pacific business area.
Delivery of the turbines is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, with commercial operation planned for the third quarter of 2026. In addition, the parties have also agreed on a 20-year service agreement for the turbines.
The other major orders that Vestas has announced since yesterday are that wind turbine manufacturers have been selected as the preferred supplier of RWE and Northland Power for the 1.6 GW offshore wind project Nordseecluster in the German part of the North Sea.
In addition, a conditional agreement has also been signed regarding two onshore wind energy projects in Brazil with a total capacity of 1.3 GW for an undisclosed customer.
