After being tested on land, among other things, at Testcenter Østerild, Vestas' V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine has now been installed offshore for the first time. Vestas announced this in a post on its LinkedIn profile.
The turbine is the first of a total of 64 that the Danish manufacturer is delivering to the 960 MW He Dreiht project in the German part of the North Sea, which is being developed by energy company EnBW. The He Dreiht project will supply electricity equivalent to the consumption of more than 1 million European households.
"He Dreiht is a landmark project that shows how wind energy shapes the energy systems of the future in Europe," Vestas writes in the announcement.
