Companies in the industrial and construction industries have increasingly had to resort to temporary workers to fill gaps in staffing, new figures from Statistics Denmark show. This is according to Tekniq Arbejdsgiverne.

From 2023 to 2024, the number of temporary worker hours sold in industry increased by 5 percent – from 7.8 million to 8.2 million hours, corresponding to 188 full-time employees. In the construction industry, the increase was even greater, by 28 percent, from 4.8 million to 6.2 million hours, corresponding to 715 full-time positions.

- The figures indicate that there is a major shortage of labor that companies are struggling to solve every day. Temporary workers are part of the solution, and if you prepare properly, you can easily use temporary workers to solve urgent tasks, says Linda Nordstrøm Nissen, deputy director and lawyer at TEKNIQ.

The total number of temporary worker hours sold across all industries increased by only 0.3 percent in the same period, which according to TEKNIQ shows that the need for temporary workers is particularly pronounced in the technical business community.
