Back at the end of April, Vestas' production in Ringkøbing was hit by a corona outbreak, which sent large parts of the factory's night shift home to sickbeds or into quarantine. In total, Vestas had to send 135 employees home.

Vestas subsequently had to struggle for a long time to keep the infection down and avoid new cases.

The latest measure is that employees in production must wear face masks until August 1, while the rest of Denmark was able to completely drop the face mask in June. And this is causing frustration among the employees in Ringkøbing. Thus, 90 percent of employees have said no to the requirement for face masks, writes Dagbladet Ringkøbing-Skjern.

"It's easy to sit at your desk and be exempt from wearing a face mask when working at a computer and then decide that employees must continue to wear a face mask for nine to 13 hours at a time. It's hard to do physically hard work with a face mask on, and it definitely doesn't get any less hard in the summer heat," the employees' request to management also states.

According to Dagbladet, between 50 and 75 percent of both the day and evening shifts are incomprehensible that management maintains the requirement for face masks despite the fact that the specified distances are recommendations. In addition, the employees do not want to work overtime precisely because of the requirement for face masks.

The corona outbreak in the spring has meant that production had to run at a lower pace for a period, which has affected revenue and brought the factory behind in terms of orders.

Previously, production director for Vestas' department in Ringkøbing Tommy Rahbek Nielsen has estimated that the outbreak could cost production between 200 and 400 million. DKK.
