The schedule for the upcoming offshore wind farm 'park 2' at Hesselø has been brought forward, the Danish Energy Agency writes on its website.
This is after Energinet has received an order to initiate preliminary studies regarding the offshore wind farm and grid connection point on land.
It is also expected that the preliminary studies can now be completed in a shorter time, which is possible due to the milder weather in the Kattegat during the winter months compared to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
Hesselø is thus brought forward from 2028 to 2027, and it therefore appears that Hesselø will be completed at the same time as Thor Offshore Wind Farm, which has previously been affected by delays.
The Danish Energy Agency also writes that the offshore wind farm is planned to be put out to tender, so that the concession winner will have the opportunity to set up more than 1 GW of capacity that can be delivered to the electricity grid, which can ensure a more continuous flow of electricity from the farm to land. However, it is up to the developer to choose.
When it became clear that Thor Wind Farm would be delayed by a year, Wind Denmark estimated that it missed out on CO2 savings equivalent to the emissions of one million diesel cars.
