If a local area does not want a solar park, there should not be a solar park in the local area. The Denmark Democrats will certainly not contribute to that, says chairwoman Inger Støjberg in her speech at the party's national conference in Herning on Saturday.
- So when we go to local elections next year, it is our clear promise to the voters that we will not contribute to pulling solar parks down over the heads of local areas that would rather be free, says Støjberg.
However, it will not be an ultimate demand for the Denmark Democrats when constituent agreements are made in the country's municipalities after next year's municipal elections.
- We will have a bunch of local council members who will point to blue mayors. And so in the constituent agreement, it is clear that this is one of the demands that we include. But we are not a party that makes ultimate demands. But we are a party that is working in the direction we want. And we will do everything we possibly can to stop these solar cells, Støjberg tells Ritzau after the speech.
Støjberg: "We need a good dose of common sense"
The municipal election promise comes in connection with the party's proposal to immediately stop the government's plans to install solar cells around the country. However, it is the municipalities themselves who have submitted bids and approved the locations where the solar cells will be placed. Nevertheless, Inger Støjberg and the Danish Democrats want "we to pull the emergency brake and say stop".
- We need a good dose of common sense - also when it comes to the green transition. I can at least guarantee that we will do our part, said Støjberg in her speech.
Instead, she suggests that work be initiated to clarify how much green electricity is actually needed to cover the Danish energy needs. After that, solar cells can be placed on the roofs of public buildings to cover the need. Støjberg criticizes that more electricity must be produced than is needed in Denmark.
- We should not be a battery for all of Northern Germany, she said.
Climate Minister: Støjberg wants to eliminate job opportunities in rural areas
In total, there are political plans for 26 solar parks, of which 24 are located in Jutland. Støjberg's announcement is met with criticism from Climate Minister Lars Aagaard (M). He tells Jyllands-Posten that Støjberg's proposal will "close down job opportunities in rural areas".
- Inger Støjbjerg at Christiansborg thinks that she should sit in Copenhagen and decide what can be decided in the city councils. I am not in favor of that type of centralism and Copenhagenism, Aagaard tells the newspaper.
