Andreas Nauen also failed to lift the onshore business at Siemens Gamesa, and like his predecessor Marcus Tacke, the lack of success in that area will now be Nauen's final step as CEO of Siemens Gamesa.
He has been fired, and instead Jochen Eickholt will take over as new CEO as of March 1, the wind turbine manufacturer announced in a press release.
This means that Andreas Nauen, who came from a position as offshore CEO of Siemens Gamesa, only spent a little over a year and a half in the position. The firing comes on the back of a recently presented annual result that showed red figures of 2.3 billion kroner.
Earlier in, the company announced that cost increases in the development of the company's new onshore wind platform 5.X had negatively affected the first quarter financial statements by 2.15 billion kroner. DKK. Andreas Nauen could not survive these challenges as CEO.
- Siemens Gamesa is experiencing significant challenges in its onshore business in a really difficult market, and we have appointed a CEO with a strong track record in managing complex operational situations and successful turnarounds of underperforming companies, says Miguel Angel López, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Siemens Gamesa. He also thanks Andreas Nauen for his time at the company.
The parent company's man takes over
The new CEO Jochen Eickholt is a qualified engineer, but has no experience from the wind industry. He has over twenty years of seniority in the Siemens Group, including as CEO of Siemens Mobility and Chairman of the Board and Managing Partner of Siemens Portfolio Companies.
For the past two years, he has been part of the management board of Siemens Energy, which owns the majority of shares in Siemens Gamesa, where he has been responsible for the areas of power generation and industrial applications.
Siemens Gamesa finally expresses great faith in the future, believing that with an order backlog of more than 33 billion euros, a leading position in the offshore market and a strong service business, it is well positioned for future success. The decision to take control of the onshore business is emphasized once again in conclusion.
