The coronavirus pandemic has affected Siemens Gamesa's results in the first quarter of the 2021/2022 financial year. This is the company's announcement based on the preliminary financial figures for the quarter that started in October. The final figures will be presented next month.
The pandemic has thus spread throughout the supply chain and led to higher prices and delayed projects, which are problems experienced in several places in the industry.
The problems can be read in the preliminary figures for the company, which show a deficit of 309 million euros, equivalent to 2.3 billion kroner, out of a turnover of 1.8 billion euros (13.4 billion kroner).
Siemens Gamesa even indicates that the corona pandemic is now expected to affect the company's business for a longer period than previously expected.
The gloomy predictions have now led the company to lower its expectations for the entire financial year from an expected EBIT result of between 1-4 percent to now -4-1 percent. Revenue expectations are also falling, with a decline of between 2-9 percent expected. compared to 2020/2021 revenue of 10.198 billion euros. Previously, the expectation was a decrease of between 2-7 percent.
In addition to the problems caused by corona, Siemens Gamesa has also experienced challenges in the development of its 5.X platform, which is to be the company's new onshore wind platform.
According to the company, there has been a need for design changes to the platform, which has led to cost increases, which have negatively affected the result by approximately 289 million euros (2.15 billion kr) in the first quarter.
