Consortium partners Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C have completed load-out and sail-away of the final offshore substation in the Hai Long Offshore Wind project. This follows their award of the EPC contract for Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 in 2022, Semco Maritime said in a press release.
The Hai Long project, which has a total capacity of over 1 GW, consists of the Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 wind farms in the Taiwan Strait, 45-70 kilometers offshore. The project is being developed in collaboration between Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Northland Power Inc. and Gentari. With the sail-away of the Hai Long 3 substation on March 8, 2025, the project is approaching commissioning. The offshore installation is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2025.
The consortium has been responsible for the design, procurement and construction of the two offshore substations at PTSC M&C's shipyard in Vung Tau City, Vietnam. Semco Maritime highlights the collaboration as an important factor in the progress of the project.
- It has been a pleasure to work closely with the parties involved in the Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in recent years, and the strong teamwork with our consortium partner and subcontractors on this project bodes well for the future, says Frank Holm, Senior Vice President Renewables at Semco Maritime.
