There will be a more Danish touch to the Taiwanese offshore wind project Feng Miao of 500 MW, which is scheduled for completion in 2027 approximately 36 km from the Taiwanese west coast near the city of Taichung.
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners is behind the project, and the Danish asset manager is now looking at a Danish supplier to deliver the 500 MW offshore substation that will be used for the project.
The choice has fallen on Semco Maritime, which has landed the order under the auspices of the consortium that has been entered into with PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C), but which Semco is leading.
The offshore substation contract includes design, engineering, procurement, fabrication and commissioning with project start in early October 2023 and immediate execution of the tasks by the parties.
All structures for the project will be manufactured at PTSC M&C’s shipyard in Vungtau City, Vietnam, while Semco Maritime is responsible for design and procurement as well as electrical installations, SCADA and auxiliary systems with assistance from the main subcontractor ISC Consulting Engineers. The contract will be executed in 2023-2026, Semco Maritime said in a statement.
- Feng Miao is an exciting project and represents a great opportunity for our consortium to build on our shared experience from the Taiwanese Hai Long project, while strengthening our links with a world-class team at Copenhagen Offshore Partners, which has a strong track record of managing offshore project development in Taiwan dating back to 2017. We look forward to contributing to the continued development of the offshore wind industry in Taiwan in the coming years, says Vice President Renewables, Semco Maritime, Frank Holm.
This is the third offshore substation project awarded to the consortium consisting of Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C since the first collaboration in the Hai Long project, which was recently followed by the Baltica 02 project. Both projects are underway and progressing according to plan.
