On Thursday, RWE and Østermark Entreprenørforretning marked the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 2,300 m² operational building in Thorsminde Harbour, which will form the base for operation and maintenance of Thor Offshore Wind Farm – Denmark's largest of its kind. The new building is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and will house up to 60 local jobs.

The building will contain control rooms, offices, warehouses, conference rooms, lounges, canteens and a roof terrace. From spring 2026, service vessels will sail technicians and staff out to the offshore wind turbines daily. RWE plans to operate the park from Thorsminde for at least 30 years.
Work on Thor Offshore Wind Farm continues to progress according to plan. Foundation work and cable installation are underway, and installation of the 72 offshore wind turbines is expected to begin in 2026. When the park is ready in 2027, it will be able to supply green electricity to more than one million Danish homes.
The project is a collaboration between RWE (51%) and Norges Bank Investment Management (49%). RWE is responsible for construction and operation.
