An injunction against the electricity company Velkommen is now causing more electricity consumers to change suppliers. Gasel is noticing this, as it has doubled its customer base overnight.
Energi Fyn reports this in a press release.
On April 14, the Danish Electricity Authority ordered Velkommen to repay customers' receivables after criticism of the company's handling of the matter. According to Gasel, the case has caused more consumers to consider their electricity contracts.
- We can clearly see that the case against the electricity company Velkommen has created insecurity and made electricity consumers aware that they need to consider where they stand as customers. From one day to the next, our customer base increased by 100 percent. at Gasel, says Christian Drejer, commercial director of the Energi Fyn group, which owns and operates Gasel.
The development follows a trend from earlier in the year. In March, 21 electricity contracts failed a test from the Danish Consumer Council Tænk, where Gasel was named the test winner. Here too, the company experienced a significant increase in customer arrivals.
- We had never seen anything like this, so the effect of Tænk's test was significant. Compared to the number of customers we normally get, we increased our customer inflow tenfold in the first week following the publication of the test, says Christian Drejer.
