Centrica Energy has entered into an agreement to optimise a 70 MW / 160 MWh battery plant in Ånge, Sweden. The project is being developed by Ånge Storage Solutions AB, which was established by Delta Capacity and Wood & Co., and is expected to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2026. Centrica Energy said in a press release.
According to the parties, the battery plant will be the largest of its kind in the Nordic region and will contribute to increased flexibility in the Swedish electricity grid. The plant will, among other things, support the integration of renewable energy and strengthen the stability of the electricity system.
As a result of the agreement, Centrica Energy will be responsible for the ongoing optimisation of the plant with trading and management around the clock. This includes using forecasts, market data and algorithms to optimise revenues across electricity markets and ancillary services.
- Our partnership with Delta Capacity strengthens our growing presence in the Nordics and highlights the central role that flexible energy solutions play in a stable energy system based on renewable energy, says Cassim Mangerah, managing director at Centrica Energy.
