A number of former customers of the electricity companies Velkommen and the subsidiary Nettopower have complained that they have had difficulty getting their receivables paid.
And now the Danish Electricity Supply Authority has responded to the complaints by ordering the two companies to immediately pay all outstanding amounts to former customers. This has happened after reviewing more than 6,000 cases in the two companies.
At Velkommen, late payments were made in at least 3,192 of the 3,470 cases, and at Nettopower it was made in 2,969 of the 3,003 cases.
- This is a very large number of violations in an area where the rules are otherwise fairly simple. That is why we are now taking action with a relatively strict order that the two companies ensure that all their former customers are immediately paid their rightful receivables, says the Director of the Danish Electricity Supply Authority, Carsten Smidt, in a press release.
In addition to the closed cases, the review also showed that many customers still had not received their receivables.
In its decision, the Danish Electricity Supply Authority proposes that a follow-up inspection be held later to determine whether the companies are complying with the rules.
The rules state that as an electricity customer you are entitled to a final settlement no later than four weeks after you have changed supplier. Any receivables must be paid at the same time as the final settlement.
