Three out of four planned solar cell projects in Svendborg Municipality have been put on hold as a result of the general election, which has interrupted the consideration of a bill on municipal energy investments. The bill was supposed to give municipalities better opportunities to finance solar cell and wind projects on existing buildings with loans and subsequently operate them. The proposal had been first read, but was not adopted before the election. An election resets legislative work, and therefore the law must be considered from the start again. - Because the legislative work has been postponed, we will have to find other financing, and we cannot do that right now. The budget has been approved, says Jesper Kiel, chairman of the technical and environmental committee in Svendborg Municipality.
The affected projects include solar cell projects at Aldersro Care Center, Svendborg Swimming Pool and the former town hall in Egebjerg. A fourth project at Eriksholm Children's Home will be implemented, however, as the costs can be covered within a surplus in the construction project of approximately 0.5 million DKK.
