The state government of Schleswig-Holstein is sticking to its plan to increase the area for wind turbines from two to three percent of the state's total area. But after around 1,800 consultation responses, the wind power plans are now being adjusted. Among other things, the visibility corridor around the Hedeby and Danevirke World Heritage Site in Schleswig will be reduced, so that the area is shielded from wind turbines. This is reported by Flensborg Avis.
- Some of these changes require a new public consultation, says Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU).
The wind turbine plans are expected to be finalized before the summer break, after which they will be discussed publicly. Final adoption is not expected until 2027. The state government maintains the goal of a total wind power capacity of 15 GW on three percent of the area by 2030. The minimum distance to homes remains 400 meters, while for villages and towns it remains 800 and 1000 meters, respectively.
