Ørsted has signed a letter of intent with South Korean steelmaking giant POSCO Group to explore a partnership on the 1.4 GW Incheon offshore wind project. It writes OffshoreWind. Under the agreement, POSCO Group will explore the possibility of supplying high-strength steel for offshore wind turbine foundations and towers, as well as collaborating on engineering, procurement, construction and installation, including both onshore and offshore infrastructure.
- POSCO's expertise in steel, engineering and industrial development combined with Ørsted's deep experience as a global leader in offshore wind creates a strong platform to ensure the success of the Incheon project. Together, we will identify synergies that can accelerate progress, strengthen Korea's offshore wind industry and contribute to the country's energy transition, says Per Mejnert Kristensen, CEO of Region APAC at Ørsted.
The partnership also includes potential opportunities for equity participation, project development and operation and maintenance of the offshore wind farm.
