140 citizens from the West Jutland villages of Hemmet, Sdr. Virum and Bork received unexpected news when GreenGo Energy revealed at a citizens' meeting that the company is working on erecting new wind turbines on Lønborg Hede. This came as a surprise to many in attendance who have already been following the energy project closely. This is what Dagbladet Ringkøbing Skjern writes about the development of renewable energy in the municipality.
Project Director Jacob Hänel Christensen from GreenGo Energy said at the meeting that the company is investigating the possibility of a repowering project, where older wind turbines are replaced with newer and more efficient models.
- Lønborg Hede 1 currently consists of seven older turbines. We are trying to do a repowering project with newer turbines, said Jacob Hänel Christensen, project director at GreenGo Energy.
However, he could not state how high the new turbines might be or how many will be installed.
- It is simply too early to say anything yet, he said.
Among those present there was criticism that GreenGo Energy is constantly changing plans, which makes it difficult for citizens to relate to the project. Several expressed frustration that new initiatives are constantly being presented that have not been part of previous discussions.
Jacob Hänel Christensen emphasized that GreenGo Energy wants to be open about the plans, even though they are not yet sure whether the project can be implemented.
At the citizens' meeting, it was also mentioned that it has not yet been decided where exactly solar cells and wind turbines in the Hemmet-Sdr. Vium area will be located. Last year, 1200 citizens signed a petition saying they do not want more energy plants in the area, and there was again opposition to the project.
