For the second time, Green Power Denmark will honor individuals, companies and initiatives that are at the forefront of promoting electrification with the Green Power Award. This year, the award has had a special focus on initiatives that strengthen the electrification of Denmark – as an inspiration for the rest of Europe.

Since January, it has been possible to nominate initiatives for the award, and now the jury has identified three finalists in the form of Eurowind Energy, Hybrid Greentech and MEP Morten Helveg Petersen from the Danish Social Liberal Party. This is stated by the business organization in a press release.

- This year, we have seen a strong field of nominees, which emphasizes that we fortunately have many talented and not least courageous initiators who work every day for a greener and more electrified future. This year, the Green Power Award will go to someone who has dared to break new ground and is helping to accelerate electrification and the green transition. This year's three finalists have each distinguished themselves in unique ways and therefore deserve a podium place, says Kristian Jensen, CEO of Green Power Denmark.

The winner will be announced on May 23 at the Green Power Denmark Summit, where the winner will be presented with a statuette and 30,000 kroner for a green charity. The jury emphasizes bold decisions, electrification of Danish society and initiatives that can inspire the rest of Europe.

Last year, Crossbridge Energy and Everfuel won the award for their joint HySynergy project, which supports electrification through electrolysis plants and liquid fuels in sectors where direct electrification is not immediately possible.

Finalists:

Eurowind Energy

Eurowind Energy has been nominated for the Green Power Award for its innovative hybrid parks, St. Soels Energipark and Veddum Kær. These parks, which are the first of their kind in Denmark, combine solar and wind energy, optimizing production hours and the electricity infrastructure. This approach promotes a more stable and cost-effective production of renewable energy and contributes to accelerating Denmark's electrification.

In 2022, Eurowind Energy inaugurated the country's first hybrid plant, marking a new chapter in Danish energy history by breaking with traditional thinking and combining solar and wind energy on the same land. With strong local support, including 46 local cooperatives in St. Soels Energipark, Eurowind Energy has also shown how collaboration and local support can drive the green transition and serve as a great inspiration.

Hybrid Greentech

Hybrid Greentech is nominated for their advanced, large-scale intelligent energy storage solutions that relieve the electricity grid and store excess energy using AI-powered virtual power plants. Hybrid Greentech helps to maximize the use of renewable energy and increase the flexibility of the energy system, which helps to strengthen the electrification of the energy system.

Under the leadership of founder Rasmus Rode Mosbæk, Hybrid Greentech has grown from a one-man operation to a company with 25 employees. They inspire large companies to invest in and prioritize green energy, which is an important step in electrification.

Morten Helveg Petersen

Morten Helveg Petersen has been nominated for the award for his work in the European Parliament over the past 11 years, where he has worked diligently to promote the electrification of the EU. He has kept his eye on the ball and consistently directed his political work towards the obstacles to the electrification of the EU – including tackling administrative burdens, helping to ensure a market-based European energy policy and strengthening incentives to invest in European offshore wind projects.

Morten Helveg Petersen's leadership and ability to make bold choices have helped move EU energy policy from the periphery to the top of the EU's energy and security policy agenda, inspiring broader cooperation and paving the way for a more electrified future in the EU.
