As is well known, a well-begun project is half-done, and Ørsted can now be pleased to have successfully landed the wind turbines for their upcoming offshore wind farm Hornsea Two.
The Deme Offshore installation vessel Sea Challenger has now completed the installation of the first Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbine in the upcoming wind farm – now all that is needed is to install a further 164 offshore wind turbines.
- I am incredibly proud of the way our team has worked together through this incredibly difficult time and ensured that our installation plans have been able to continue as planned, says Patrick Harnett, Senior Programme Director for Hornsea Two at Ørsted.
All 165 Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines, each with an output of 8 MW, are to be installed next year and have a total output of 1.4 GW, making it the world's largest offshore wind farm.
When operational, Hornsea Two will be able to produce electricity for a full 1.3 million households. Ørsted also humorously adds that each wind turbine will be able to produce enough electricity for 160,000 hours of Zoom calls.
The pictures don't do it justice. This is a quarter of an Eiffel Tower being put in place 100 km out in the North Sea. Now we just need 164 more???? https://t.co/Cu7IBhHj32
