Microsoft and European Energy have reached an agreement on a series of PPAs that will supply the IT giant with electricity that will be produced from European Energy's portfolio of wind and solar farms in Sweden and Denmark. The energy company announced this in a statement.

In the "long-term agreements", European Energy will deliver over 3.6 TWh over the contract period, the lengths of which are not specified.

- We are pleased that Microsoft has committed to driving the green transition forward. The rollout of renewable energy depends on major stakeholders committing to purchasing the renewable electricity produced from these assets, which requires significant investment, said Jens-Peter Zink, Vice President of European Energy.

The agreement supports Microsoft’s goal of meeting all of its energy needs with renewable energy by 2025 and being CO2-negative by 2030.

- We are pleased that the projects we have contracted with European Energy have achieved commercial operation – which directly contributes to our sustainability goals, said Adrian Anderson, General Manager for Renewables, Carbon Free Energy and Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR).
