The offshore wind turbine operation and maintenance company Ziton is now in new hands. The investment company Macquarie Asset Management, through Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 7, has entered into an agreement with Permira Credit and other shareholders in Ziton to acquire the company.

- By extending the lifespan of existing offshore wind farms and at the same time developing the next generation of projects, Europe can achieve its ambitious goals of climate neutrality and energy security. As a leading infrastructure investor and a major investor in the offshore wind industry in the North Sea, we recognise ZITON’s important role in delivering the practical solutions needed to ensure Europe’s offshore wind fleet remains optimised and resilient,” said Gordon Parsons, Senior Managing Director at Macquarie Asset Management, in a press release.

Founded in Denmark in 2007 as one of the first companies in the offshore wind sector, Ziton is today a provider of operations and maintenance services for wind turbines in Europe.

The company currently owns and operates five jack-up vessels and has serviced 80 wind farms at 1,800 locations in the North Sea. Ziton offers a full-service solution, including maritime project planning and execution, lifting planning and execution, specialist tools and lifting equipment, and technical specialists. Ziton CEO Thorsten Jalk looks forward to starting a new chapter in the company's history under the new ownership.

- With the support of Permira Credit, we continued our efforts to ensure high operational reliability for offshore wind turbines so that they can produce clean energy. In this new chapter, we look forward to working with Macquarie Asset Management as we continue to grow and be a trusted partner for our clients, he says.
