STEVNS: The mood around renewable energy can be difficult to gauge. The stories that most often come to light are about dissatisfied neighbors with wind turbines or solar cells. But in Stevns Municipality, they wanted broader knowledge about the citizens' attitudes.

Therefore, a questionnaire survey was recently conducted on the citizens' views on renewable energy. The survey shows that Stevns residents are predominantly positive about renewable energy in the municipality, according to a press release.

The questionnaire was sent to 4,000 Stevns residents digitally and 26 percent have completed it, while two percent have answered it partially. In the questionnaire survey, the municipality asked about the Stevns residents' attitudes - advantages and disadvantages - to solar energy on land and wind energy on land and at sea. In addition, they had to specifically relate to European Energy's wind turbine project off Stevns Klint.

- I would like to thank the 1,129 Stevns citizens who have given their opinions. This gives a response rate of 28 percent, and I am very satisfied with that. Every single answer has given us valuable knowledge about the Stevns residents' approach to renewable energy and the responsibility that we as a municipality can take on. We will use this knowledge in the next phase, where we will first look at the results in more detail and then have the political discussions, says Mayor Henning Urban Dam Nielsen (S).

Positive responses to the Stevns Klint project

In general, the citizens who have answered the questionnaire are positive towards renewable energy. Offshore wind turbines in particular are popular among the citizens. 71 percent are generally positive or very positive in relation to offshore wind turbines. In relation to wind turbines on land, the positive percentage is 49 percent. and for solar cells it is 65 percent. The proportion that is negatively or very negatively voted is 15 percent for offshore wind turbines, 31 percent for onshore wind turbines and 19 percent for solar cell parks.

European Energy's offshore wind turbine project off Stevns also receives generally positive comments from the citizens of Stevns. Thus, 67 percent are positively voted towards European Energy's offshore wind turbine project off Stevns. Of these, 28 percent are very positively voted. 18 percent are negatively voted, and of these, 10 percent are very negative.
