Eight years after Østkraft A/S and Bornholms Forsyning A/S merged to form Bornholms Energi & Forsyning A/S (BEOF), the merger is complete, as the employees will soon gather at one address in Rønne. When the move is realized, BEOF will create one unified meeting place for the company's approximately 170 employees for the first time in its history, Beof said in a press release.
- This is something we - both the employees and I - have been looking forward to for many years. It is a solution that both strengthens our internal cooperation and prepares us for the new challenges we face, says Claus M. Andersen, CEO of Beof.
Specifically, Bornholms Forsyning's old premises in Rønne will be the starting point for the upcoming joint location. The solution focuses on optimizing, upgrading and reusing existing buildings and materials instead of building new ones.
- We have investigated various possible alternatives and the cheapest way is to utilize our existing facilities on Industrivej and then build there, says Claus M. Andersen.
The decision has been made with broad support on the board, and according to the director, the merger is necessary for the company to be able to solve the tasks that await in the near future.
- In the coming years, we are facing some extensive tasks because our core task is changing. We have ensured safe and efficient supply for generations here on Bornholm. We still have to, but we are also facing major investments in electricity, heat, wastewater and renewable energy - and also investments across these sectors - to succeed in our goals, says Claus M. Andersen and continues:
- We believe that this is best achieved by all employees working closely together - both physically and professionally.
The project is awaiting the necessary building permits, and BEOF expects to be able to move into the new framework during 2027.
