A wave of fraud attempts is currently hitting Danish electricity customers. Fraudsters are sending emails and text messages pretending to be from Andel Energi, threatening recipients with power outages if they do not pay an outstanding amount. Andel Energi writes this in a press release.

The scam messages try to get recipients to pay either DKK 128 or DKK 322 within a short period of time. Andel Energi emphasizes that the company never shuts off electricity without a longer process of debt collection and dialogue.

- It is important to emphasize that Andel Energi never shuts off electricity just because a bill is paid late. In cases where it may ultimately be necessary to shut off electricity, there will always have been a long process of both debt collection and dialogue prior to such a drastic action. If you receive an email or text message where Andel Energi apparently threatens to turn off the power, you should always be very careful, says Andel Energi's commercial director, Josefine Walter.

Customers are encouraged to log in to their profile via Andel Energi's website or app if they have any doubts about the authenticity of a bill. Scam messages are becoming increasingly sophisticated and can resemble genuine communication from the energy company. Therefore, Andel Energi recommends paying particular attention to unexpected messages, suspicious links and requests for personal information.
