The controversial Megaton project in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, which includes plans for 500 hectares of solar cells and up to 13 wind turbines, is now facing opposition from a prominent local politician. SF's group chairman Niels Rasmussen declares his readiness to scrap the project altogether. This is what Dagbladet Ringkøbing Skjern writes.
- I think we should start from scratch. We should talk to the citizens about where they think space can be made for more plants. It should not be the project developers who decide where they should be located. We should do this in consultation with the citizens, says Niels Rasmussen, group chairman for SF in Ringkøbing-Skjern City Council.
The announcement comes in the wake of a 23-page memo in which citizens in the southern part of the municipality express massive opposition to the project and distrust of the developer GreenGo Energy.
