The Danish Electricity Supply Authority has filed a police report against the electricity network company Sunds Net A.m.b.a. for violating the tender rules when purchasing electricity to cover grid losses. Grid losses are the part of the electricity that is lost when electricity network companies transport electricity from producer to consumer, and which is ultimately paid for by consumers through the electricity bill, the authority said in a statement.
The report is a result of an inspection carried out in 2024-25, where the Danish Electricity Supply Authority examined 11 grid companies' contracts for the purchase of electricity for grid losses - the electricity that is lost during transport through the electricity network and is ultimately paid for by consumers.
The Danish Electricity Supply Authority concluded that Sunds Net A.m.b.a. had not complied with the rules and therefore issued a reprimand. The inspectorate also assessed that the violation was so significant that it provided grounds for a police report.
The police must now take a position on the case and assess whether a fine should be issued and, if so, how large it should be.
