European Energy has been awarded Contract for Difference (CfD) contracts for five solar projects in Italy with a total capacity of 513 MW. The projects are located in Sicily, Apulia and Molise and will receive a stable revenue base under the FerX scheme with the agreements. The Danish developer announced this in a press release.
The five projects range from 20 MW to 225 MW and together constitute one of the largest portfolios of solar projects under development in Italy. Among the projects is the solar park in Vizzini in Sicily, which combines agricultural production with energy production from solar cells and is expected to be the country's largest solar park when completed.
The five projects range from 20 MW to 225 MW. The CfD awards give the projects a predictable price structure that ensures stable earnings throughout the entire operating period. Among the projects is the solar park in Vizzini in Sicily, which combines agricultural production with energy production from solar cells and is expected to be the country's largest solar park when completed.
- The outcome of the auction provides clarity on the next steps in the work to realize these solar projects in Sicily, Puglia and Molise. The awarded tariffs provide a stable basis for the development of the projects, says Alessandro Migliorini, Director and Country Manager for Italy at European Energy.
European Energy already has a number of solar and wind projects in Italy, including the Troia solar park, which was connected to the grid in 2022. With the new CfD agreements, the company has now secured or signed 15 CfDs or PPAs across its markets.
