KERTEMINDE: A broad group of city residents in Kerteminde Municipality met on Friday to once again discuss the plans to expand the Port of Odense. Here they agreed to say no to the expansion of the Port of Odense. "We have been able to establish that an expansion of the port will have major consequences for our nature and our environment," says Toke Kristensen (R) to TV2 Fyn.
The group, which consists of the Radical Left, the Unity List, the SF, the Danish People's Party and Lars Hansborg-Sørensen from the Social Democrats, questions the need for the expansion. They point out that the Port of Odense owns up to 890,000 unused square meters, which should be put to use first.
The opposition is still a minority of 12 out of 25 seats, and an expansion can therefore still become a reality.
