
US President Donald Trump writes on Truth Social that he has asked the US Department of Defense to "postpone all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a period of five days". This assumes that "the ongoing meetings and discussions proceed positively", Trump writes.
The US and Iran have had "very good and productive talks" over the past two days about a "complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East", it continues. The talks with Iran will continue this week, the president writes.
On Saturday, Trump gave the Iranians a 48-hour deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That deadline would have expired at 00:44 on Tuesday night Danish time. If it did not happen, the Iranian power plants would be "obliterated", he warned.
