It should be easier for Danish companies to receive support from the Business Fund for the green transition, and they will not have to wait until next year to benefit from the new allocation criteria.
According to the plan, they should have come into force at the beginning of 2023, but now they can come into force on November 1 - once it has been adopted in the Danish Parliament, writes the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities in a press release.
The advancement means that conversion projects can begin already this year according to the new rules. Among other things, this will make it possible for companies, including horticultural companies, to say goodbye to expensive gas more quickly in favor of greener solutions such as district heating.
- The parties to the agreement are further boosting the business sector's transition away from expensive black energy to a greener future by now helping horticultural companies, among other things. We are in an energy crisis and are working hard to become independent of Russian gas. The gas that businesses save here can help ensure we have enough energy in a pressured energy market, says Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Dan Jørgensen (S).
Seven new initiatives
The parties behind the Climate Agreement on Green Electricity and Heat agreed on June 25, 2022, to adjust the Business Pool. The adjustment is intended to ensure better and easier support for green transition in industry, including the possibility of switching away from gas.
Seven specific initiatives are intended to help ensure that the Business Pool supports companies' energy saving projects and the green transition to an even greater extent. The initiatives include: introduction of CO2 as a supplementary award criterion, the requirement for competition to be suspended being removed and the support rate being raised.
The new award criteria facilitate companies' access to the pool funds.
According to the plan, the new rules were to come into force at the beginning of January. This is the deadline that the parties to the agreement have now agreed to bring forward to 1 November 2022.

The seven initiatives to adjust the Business Pool
• Introduction of CO2 as a supplementary award criterion, which allows projects that save CO2 but not energy to obtain support via the Business Pool. For example, support for conversion away from fossil gas to biofuel or district heating
• Remove the requirement for competition, so that the support takes effect more quickly
• Possibility of initiating projects after submitting an application
• Positive list with initiatives that receive a set support rate to ease administration
• Higher support rate for investments in green transition including energy-saving initiatives
• Stop subsidies for the installation of new gas boilers
• Prioritization factor for gas conversions, so that the financial incentive for applications for gas-reducing projects is increased
