Within the coming weeks, work will begin to remove the old southern inner pier in Rønne Port. For many years, the pier has created shelter and protection for the port's inner basins and quays, but can now be removed as the construction of the new outer pier is so far advanced that it has taken over this function. This is what Rønne Port writes in a press release.

- The southern inner pier will soon be a thing of the past in the port. We have already removed the top of the pier and will soon start removing many tons of stone, which we will reuse for the new outer pier. In addition to ensuring better navigation of the port, it will also be an advantage for both nature and the environment that as many stones and materials as possible are recycled, says Dan Harborg Locht, project director at MT Højgaard.

The work to remove the pier will be done in stages to ensure a controlled process where the materials are recycled in the best possible way. The new outer pier will benefit from the recycled stones, reducing the need for new materials and supporting a more sustainable construction.

Open Port in April

On Saturday, April 26, the Port of Rønne invites all interested citizens to the Open Port at Sdr. Bådehavn and Honnørkajen. Visitors can meet the port's employees and gain insight into the many tasks that are carried out at Bornholm's largest commercial port.

- Open Port is a very important day for us, as we have the opportunity to meet our neighbors and the local Bornholm residents and give them an insight into life at the port. This year, a number of the partners who are part of the port's daily life will also be there. We therefore hope that many people from Bornholm will take advantage of the opportunity to visit Rønne Harbour on April 26, when the community at the harbour is in focus, says Lars Nordahl, CEO of Rønne Harbour.

Guests can visit ships such as the Navy's patrol vessel Najaden, the Bornholm Marine Home Guard ships, DanPilot's pilot boat, the galley Mester, Bornholmslinjens Express 1 and Rønne Harbour's own tugboat Ursus. There will be coffee, grilled sausages and fruit for those in attendance, and the event will take place from 10:00 to 14:00.

Visitors are encouraged to come on foot or by bicycle, but there will be parking available in several places around the harbour, including at the parking lot on Skansevej and a special parking area behind Sverres Hotel on Munch Petersens Vej.
