The Port of Rønne has been chosen by the Polish ORLEN and Canadian Northland Power's joint venture Baltic Power to handle the shipment of the turbines for the 1.2 GW wind farm, which will also be called Baltic Power. The port announced this in a press release.

Baltic Power will be built approximately 150 km east of Bornholm. It will be the first offshore wind farm to be built in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. And the 76 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines will be able to supply electricity to over 1.5 million households.

- We are very happy and proud that we will now also be the installation port for a Polish wind turbine project, and even the first of its kind in the Baltic Sea and with the brand new 15 MW wind turbine from Vestas. We take it as a sign that we have strengthened the position of the Port of Rønne as the Baltic Sea's center for green energy, says Jeppe la Cour, Commercial Director, Port of Rønne A/S.

According to balticwind.eu, the reason why the task has landed with the Port of Rønne is delays in port construction in Poland.

- After analysis, we concluded that the Baltic Power park will be implemented from the reserve port in Rønne on Bornholm, because the construction of the installation port in Swinoujscie began with a six-month delay, and there was a risk that it would not be ready, Baltic Power's CEO, Ireneusz Fafara, told the media.

Shipping of the turbines from the Port of Rønne to Baltic Power will take place during 2025.
