Ørsted has achieved important milestones in its total 112 MW Bahren West onshore wind project in Brandenburg, Germany. Ørsted writes this in a press release. Bahren West I, with a capacity of 50.4 MW, is now Ørsted's largest onshore wind project in Germany and can supply the equivalent of 35,000 German households.
- We are pleased to announce that Bahren West I is now operational and that construction of Bahren West II will soon begin. The two projects are significant milestones for Ørsted's ambitions within onshore wind in Germany. With Bahren West, we are not only contributing to Germany's renewable energy goals, but also confirming our commitment to providing renewable, reliable and sustainable energy, says CEO of Ørsted Onshore Germany Stefan Bachmaier.
The next phase of the project, Bahren West II, is expected to start construction in May 2025 with a planned capacity of 61.6 MW. The wind farm is expected to be completed in 2027 and will be able to supply the equivalent of 45,000 households with green energy.
In addition to Bahren West, Ørsted also expects to commission its 16.8 MW onshore wind farm, St. Wendel, later this year. The Bahren West project is located in the municipality of Neiße-Malxetal close to the German-Polish border.
Globally, Ørsted has an installed onshore wind capacity of approximately 3.8 GW.
