Lolland, Langeland, Læsø and Morsø all have a development partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, which ensures them a minimum special subsidy for particularly disadvantaged municipalities over several years. Now Odsherred, Vordingborg and Lemvig are asking to receive the same.
This is evident from the applications for special grants, which a total of 37 municipalities have applied for this year - see the article her.
Odsherred wants to enter into a partnership with a focus on the specialized children's area, where expenses are rising sharply.
"The cost pressure is due to the increasing number of notifications, examinations, placements and preventive measures, more diagnoses and a high segregation rate, which affects a large proportion of vulnerable families and children," the municipality writes and adds:
"The development partnership must aim for the municipality to achieve a better financial balance through effective management and development-oriented efforts."
Negative spiral
Vordingborg is seeking about a partnership, because the municipality has been increasingly challenged over the years by, among other things, demographics and socio-economics.
"The development has meant that the municipality's economy has deteriorated - debt has increased, liquidity has decreased, and taxes have increased. It is a negative spiral that should be stopped and turned into a positive development," the municipality writes in its application.
According to it, the municipality sees clear positions of strength within tourism, business and not least the green transition.
From fish and mink to energy
Lemvig is also focusing on green transition as the way forward. Here, both the population and the number of jobs have fallen as a result of Brexit's impact on the fishing industry and the closure of the mink industry in particular.
"Lemvig Municipality is working to ensure that the expansion of renewable energy production can create new jobs, educational opportunities and growth in the settlement. A four-year development partnership can be established to exploit the municipality's strong positions within the production of green electricity on land and offshore wind," the municipality writes.
It wants to be able to afford, among other things, to hire administrative capacity to serve companies, developers and researchers, to invest in commercial areas and infrastructure in the expansion phase, and to educate and retrain labor for the growing renewable energy sectors.
Bornholm is considering
Lemvig's mayor, Erik Flyvholm (V), has applied to speak to Minister of the Interior Sophie Løhde (V), and he is not alone in this. A number of other municipalities have also asked to meet to explain their particular economic situation.
This applies, among other things, to Bornholm, which in the application field intended to justify the application to enter into a development partnership, writes: "Due to the economic situation, the municipality requests a meeting with the minister". According to TV2 Bornholm, the minister has agreed, and the meeting will take place on Monday. Bornholm has previously had a development agreement, but at that time there were a number of restrictions and requirements associated with it, says Mayor Jacob Trøst (K).
- Based on the situation that Bornholm is currently in, I would like to ask whether it makes sense to enter into such a development agreement, and what the possible criteria are, he says.
Several have requested a meeting
Læsø and Langeland, which already have partnerships, are also requesting a meeting with the minister.
A number of municipalities indicate that they do not want a development partnership, but that they would like to have a meeting with the minister. This applies to Slagelse, Vesthimmerland, Norddjurs, Fanø and Samsø, among others.
Lolland does not ask for any meeting in its application, but emphasizes that the municipality would like to see the grant in the partnership increased and extended, and that it wants a long-term plan for how the municipality will become less dependent on special grants.
