A new calculation of the price for Energiø Bornholm shows that the electricity could cost taxpayers significantly more than from a similar offshore wind farm. This is reported by Politiken. According to energy consultant Anders Plejdrup Houmøller, the state subsidy could end up at just over 29 øre per kWh for 20 years and up to 53 øre per kWh if the entire subsidy ceiling is utilized. Including costs for cables and transformer stations, the price could reach 78 øre per kWh. He calls the amounts "absolutely ridiculous" and "absolutely crazy".
In comparison, the state support for a similar offshore wind farm in Kattegat is expected to be 11 øre per kWh for 20 years. According to the political agreement, the total support for the Bornholm Energy Island could amount to 61 billion. DKK. According to political coordinator Gunnar Boye Olesen from the organization Vedvarende Energi, "the government has shown a tremendous willingness to pay."
According to the media, Climate Minister Lars Aagaard (M) will not be available for interviews during the winter break.
