In the spring of 2025, CS Wind Offshore announced that it would lay off the majority of the approximately 220 employees at the company's site at the Port of Odense in Lindø. This happened as a result of the market for offshore wind projects having come to a standstill, and the production of monopiles was affected. The layoffs took place in stages, and in November the last monopiles were sailed from the area and production was put on hold.
However, according to the unions Dansk Metal and 3F, many of those laid off have since moved on. At Dansk Metal, 93 members were dismissed from CS Wind Offshore. Around 50 have started working at Vestas, which also has a large production facility on the Lindø areas, while around 20 have started an education. In 3F Østfyn, 36 members lost their jobs as a result of the round of layoffs. Today, six of them are unemployed. Several of the others have also found work at Vestas. According to the unions, the ongoing layoffs have been helpful.
- With ongoing layoffs, it is easier for us to get the labor market to absorb the laid-offs, says Tonny Fejerskov, chairman of 3F Østfyn, to FyensStiftstidende.
Although CS Wind Offshore has paused the production of monopiles on Lindø, it is still present in the area. According to the company, CS Wind Offshore currently employs approximately 15 employees on Lindø, seven of whom are directly responsible for the operation of the facility. The group informs FyensStiftstidende that the future of the activities on Lindø is still unclear.
