PlanEnergi has awarded this year's Green Award to Thyborøn Sydhavns Møllelaug II I/S for the establishment of a 15 MW wind turbine at Thyborøn Sydhavn. This is stated by PlanEnergi in a post on LinkedIn.
The wind turbine was built in 2024 and is owned by around 2,800 local cooperative members in Lemvig Municipality. The project thus contributes to the green transition at Thyborøn Port and also functions as a test turbine for Vestas. According to PlanEnergi, the project was implemented without complaints and with unanimous political support in the city council.
"Thyborøn Sydhavns Møllelaug is a textbook example of how local ownership, community and renewable energy can go hand in hand and create real local value creation. It is precisely this type of initiative that must inspire the rest of the country if Denmark is to achieve the goal of quadrupling onshore wind power by 2030," PlanEnergi writes about the award, among other things.
PlanEnergi is an independent institution whose purpose is to promote the use of resource-saving and environmentally friendly systems. This is done, among other things, with the PlanEnergi Green Prize, which is awarded once a year and is given to projects or actors working with solutions within the green transition that are assessed to have the potential to be scaled and copied elsewhere in the country. The prize has previously been awarded to, among others, The Green Youth Movement and Henrik Stiesdal.
