NorSea Group is moving the development of the group's wind business to the Port of Esbjerg and will invest a three-digit million amount in the activities in the coming years. This is stated by the company, which has base and logistics activities in several places in the North Sea and is owned by the maritime industry group Wilh. Wilhelmsen. This is what JV.dk writes.
- Renewable energy is increasingly taking up space in our business, where we have invested in offshore wind in particular in the form of new competencies and increased market shares. This is the development that we now have the opportunity to scale up, says Jesper Høj-Hansen, CEO of NorSea Denmark and newly appointed executive vice president for all of NorSea Group's wind activities.
NorSea Denmark will be responsible for all of the group's wind-related companies, including Energy Innovation Group, Elevon, WindWorks Jelsa and NorSea Wind. With the strategic focus on Esbjerg, NorSea expects to strengthen its market shares both nationally and internationally.
The Port of Esbjerg has a central role in the green transition and is an important hub for offshore activities in the North Sea. The port is being continuously expanded to meet the space-intensive needs of, among others, the wind industry.
NorSea Denmark currently has around 500 employees in Esbjerg. The number is expected to increase in line with the investments, which will be spent on new equipment, buildings and recruitment, among other things.
According to the group, Denmark is well advanced in the green transition, and Esbjerg is considered to be the right location to gather and further develop wind activities. NorSea Denmark already has experience in the area and has been present in the city for 50 years, originally under the name Danbor. That company was acquired just over ten years ago as part of NorSea's strategy to get closer to the wind sector.
