There is a great deal of focus on climate change among top executives in companies around the world. Thus, 76 percent of global top executives are concerned about climate change all or most of the time. This is shown by the consulting and auditing company Deloitte's report 'CxO Sustainability Report', which this year is based on responses from over 2,100 top executives from 27 countries about their views on sustainability and climate change.

However, in the Nordic region, the concern is particularly great. Among the 131 top executives from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland, a full 92 percent of the top executives surveyed are concerned about climate change all or most of the time.

However, Nordic leaders are also ready to take action. Thus, 85 percent of top executives in the Nordic countries expect that climate change will have a high or very high impact on their companies' strategy and operations within the next three years. This is a significant increase from 2023 and is significantly above the global average, Deloitte said in a press release.

- The report clearly shows that climate considerations here in our region have become an integral part of the strategic considerations of top executives. There is a growing recognition that climate change is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity to transform business models and create long-term value, says Christian Jensby, CEO of Deloitte.

Optimism despite concerns

In addition to climate change, the report also shows that Nordic top executives are focused on a wide range of sustainability initiatives. Among other things, 42 percent of the leaders surveyed indicate that they are in the process of transforming their business model to address climate change, while 41 percent reports that sustainability is integrated throughout the organization.

Despite the great concern among Nordic top managers, there is still faith in the future. For 98 percent of Nordic managers report a high degree of optimism about the potential benefits of climate action, which is also a larger share than last year.

- Although concern about climate change is increasing, we also see a stronger belief that we can create positive change through collective action. This combination of concern and optimism is crucial to driving the necessary changes forward, says Christian Jensby
