Things are going really well for the Danish cable manufacturer NKT. The company has won several large orders in recent years. This has led, among other things, to NKT announcing plans last year to invest in a new high-voltage factory on the existing site in Karlskrona, Sweden, and a new cable ship.
NKT has now found the company that will deliver the new cable ship, which the company itself says will be the market leader. The order for the construction of the ship has been placed with the Norwegian shipyard Vard. The ship will be designed by the Norwegian company Salt Ship Design AS. This is stated in a company announcement by NKT.
The ship will be built in parallel with NKT expanding its factory capacity in Karlskrona. Both the factory and cable ship are expected to be operational from 2027.
