Criticism of the Aflandshage offshore wind farm continues after approval

On Friday, Hofor was able to announce that the Energy Agency had approved the utility company's plans to build the Aflandshage Offshore Wind Farm, which will consist of 26 wind turbines with a height of 220 metres. The wind farm is to be located in Øresund approximately eight km from Stevns, ten km from Amager and 12 km from the Swedish coast. However, the approval faces criticism from e.g. Greve and Stevn municipalities. In Stevns, people are worried that the wind farm is too close to Stevns Klint, while in Greve they are worried about the environment, writes TV2 Lorry.

- On the one hand, Denmark needs wind turbines, but on the other hand, Køge Bay is heavily burdened with everything, big or small, so overall the concern is whether our bay becomes so polluted that it runs out about bathing water quality and the marine environment, says Mayor of Greve Municipality Pernille Beckmann (V). She continues:

- I think they should do their job properly. They had to make an overall environmental assessment of all the impacts that will now be released into Køge Bay, and then look at it as an overall unit.

She refers, among other things, to Lynetteholmen and the offshore wind farm that has already been established in the bay. The Danish Nature Conservation Association is also not satisfied with the location of the offshore wind farm. Here, people are worried about the survival of the crane in the area, since, according to the local chairman of DN, Michael Kruse in Stevns, they have chosen to place the Aflandshage offshore wind farm in one of the world's largest bird migration areas. According to the local chairman, one could instead be placed a few kilometers further north.
