A closure order had already been issued when DOI.dk visited serial entrepreneur Rasmus Fejerskov at the port of Hanstholm in the vicinity of Sankthans. But now it's over for this time.
- We closed 14 days ago, and we broke open the terrace here this weekend, and the containers are on their way to Hvide Sande one of the next few days, says an annoyed Rasmus Fejerskov.
He also leaves no doubt about what he thinks about Thisted Municipality's handling of the case.
- If only there had been an objective reason for the refusal, but there isn't. You are so blinded by a possible energy adventure that lies far in the future. This means that you can't see the huge growth potential that exists here with adventure tourism, says Rasmus Fejerskov.
During the process with Thisted Municipality, he has hired a lawyer in Aarhus, who has also helped look for another plot of land for the surf cafe on the harbor's beach area.
- We found another plot of land that was zoned for a supermarket or other similar business. In the first round, there was just an unfounded rejection. But we made another application with arguments for placing the cafe there. Then there was a rejection on the grounds that the area had been rented out to someone else. We just can't find out who it's rented to, he explains.
This is also about exploiting the potential that Hanstholm has.
- It would be a huge game changer for Hanstholm and the entire municipality if the opportunity for adventure tourism here were exploited, says Rasmus Fejerskov, who has particularly noticed the local support he has received.
- I am touched by the support I have received from the locals. I will not give up, and I will apply again. It would be a completely different town if the potential was exploited with adventure tourism.
Businessman supports
As a neighbor of the surf cafe, shipyard owner Finn Jørgensen also has difficulty understanding the closure after the municipal order.
- Everyone here at the harbor supports and is positive about Rasmus Fejerskov and the surf cafe, which has attracted people. The decision to close the cafe is a humiliation for Hanstholm and us who live here. Thisted Municipality's administration is behaving like a regime, concludes Finn Jørgensen, who is also not satisfied with the municipality's technical director Mogen Kruse Andersen.
- We hear nothing from Mogens Kruse Andersen here. I have never seen him out here either, and as technical director he is the chief director of the port, concludes Finn Jørgensen.
DOI.dk has tried in vain to get a comment on this article from Thisted Municipality's technical director Mogen Kruse Andersen.
