
Sales of electric trucks are growing, but many hauliers lack knowledge about how to get power for their fleet. That is why the grid companies Cerius-Radius, in collaboration with DI Transport, have published a new guide that will help the transport industry deal with the technical and practical challenges. Cerius-Radius writes in a press release.
– When hauliers start using charging stations, they encounter electrical engineering and connection fees that have not been part of their everyday lives before, says Jens Fossar Madsen, CEO of Cerius-Radius.
He recommends that hauliers enter into a dialogue with their grid company before purchasing electric trucks.
– If several vehicles need to be charged at the same time, it can put a strain on the electricity grid like a small town. That's why we often have to start expanding the network, and it takes time, he says.
At DI Transport, industry director Hakon Iversen calls the publication an important tool.
- Expanding the electricity grid and connecting vehicle fleets is a real challenge, and here we depend on the process being efficient, he says.
He also warns that electric trucks are sometimes delivered faster than the network can keep up.
- Then the haulier risks being left with a vehicle that cannot be charged and therefore cannot be used in operation, says Hakon Iversen.
