With more than DKK 398 million in financing, European Energy is ready to increase its Polish activities. The financing, which comes from Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale and EKF - Denmark's Export Credit Agency, includes five wind farms in Poland with a total capacity of 44.675 MW.
The construction of the farms started in 2021, and the expected grid connection for the farms will be in the first half of 2022.
European Energy has increased its focus on the Polish park in recent years. Among other things, it opened an office in Warsaw in 2021 and has more than 2 GW of development pipeline in Poland including both solar and wind.
- With our first project financing for five wind farms, we have secured another milestone in Poland. We look forward to repeating this type of successful financing in the future, as we have a significant pipeline of wind and solar assets secured across Poland,” says Jens-Peter Zink, Executive Vice President of European Energy.
Poland aims in its climate plan, PEP2040, to reach an installed solar capacity of around 5-7 GW by 2040, while offshore wind energy is to reach around 11 GW by 2040. At the same time, energy from renewable sources must be no less than 32 percent of national electricity consumption by 2030.
